Volunteers Wanted – Bunnings BBQ (4th July)

Published by:

Hi Everyone,

NCC needs your help on 4th July at Bunning Atarmon. Every year we are extremely fortunate to get the chance to sell some snags and raise some much needed funds for the club. These funds allow us to have amazing presentation evenings, intra-club games, training at the SCG and help subsidize NCC clothing. Without these BBQ’s the club simply couldn’t function.

So we need your help. If interested please send me an email at secretary@northbridgecricketclub.org.

Dear Northbridge Cricketers,

We are pleased to announce the NCC – 96th Annual Presentation Night. This is easily our most popular social event of the year with great food and drinks.

Costs for attendees is $40 for a single, or $60 if you are bringing your partner. This night of nights includes a canapes, drinks and hopefully a guest speaker.

We are now calling for people to pay prior to the night via the PayPal buttons below. This certainly will not be a night to be missed, with award winners from the season as well as the usual goodies for the significant others in attendance who support our players all through the season.

Thank you – 2014/2015 Season

Published by:

Dear Cricketers,

Firstly, I would like to say a huge thank you to all our NCC members for taking part in the 2014/2015 season.

While in terms of trophies it wasn’t our most successful year, many of our members have smashed their own season records and can be found among the NSCA’s best. We also can’t forget some of the star performances throughout the year with diving catches, amazing 50s/100s, hat tricks and 5fers.

So what happens next?

Presentation Night

Details are slowly being finalized but the date: Saturday, 2nd May has been set for our Annual Presentation night. Located in North Sydney (details to be confirmed), it will be a new venue for Northbridge Cricket Club that has potential for a future long-term partnership.

Our presentation night is always a very special event on the NCC Calendar. Over the years, we have had many famous cricketing stars to attend the evening such as Brendon Julian, Nathan Bracken, Shane Watson, Brett Lee and the late Phillip Hughes (to name a few).

Winter Cricket

In the past few seasons, Northbridge CC have been consecutive premiers of the SMCA competition. Played slightly different from the summer season, games are played fortnightly (1 day game) with an early start of 10.30AM until around 3.30PM. All games are played on artificial wickets and with 10 players per team.

If you are a cricket tragic, would like to keep your form going or enjoy your winter cricket then register your interest by clicking here. Season starts late April/early May.

Annual General Meeting

Before the 2015/2016 season begins (a while away yet), we will have our AGM meeting which gives every member a say in how your club is operated. Every year we need the support of our fellow club members to run this club from electing office bearers to helping us run social media via our committee.

Every member has a voice in the NCC and we welcome your opinions, ideas and thoughts. AGM Date: Mid-August.

Bunnings BBQ

Every year we are very fortunate to be selected to host a Bunning Sausage Sizzle. These additional funds allow Northbridge to do things that other NSCA clubs just don’t do. SCG Training, NCC vs. NCC club games etc.

Dates are being confirmed but if you can help cook and serve a snag, your support as a NCC member would be great.

That’s everything for now.

If you have any further questions then don’t hesitate to contact me,

Kind regards,
Chris Olver & fellow NCC Executive.

D Reserve skipper, Steve Morrison, has hit his first century over the weekend as the side compiled 9/361 at Gore Creek.

Steve managed to hit 111, of which he hit 13 fours and 6 sixes, so not much running required.

The boys also have the opposition 3/25 at the completion of the days play, and will look to secure their first win next Saturday when the match continues.

The ‘Bridge suffered from early season nerves on the first day, being bowled out for 128 on a tricky Koola wicket. The word from the troops is that spin played a big part in it, with the skipper mentioning it was the best spin bowling he has faced in a long time.

Day 2 was a better day for the ‘Bridge, but ultimately we fell at the final hurdle, with 1 run needed to force the opposition to bat again and only 5 overs left in the day. To make matters worse, we had 2 batsman missing (with one who didn’t turn up at all!). But we fought hard despite this, and will gather momentum for the next round.

An update about the NCC Executive

Published by:

Dear Northbridge Cricketers,

At this years AGM, Mitch Whyman was voted in as your president. However, since then Mitch has decided to take a break from cricket administration for this season. We at Northbridge CC would like to thank Mitch for what he has done for this club over the years. We wouldn’t be the club we are without him, working behind the scenes, inspiring us both on and off the field.

Temporarily in his place for this season, I will not try and fill his shoes, as you cannot simply replace an administrator such as Mitch, and if I could be half the president of Northbridge CC that Mitch Whyman is then that would be enough for me. I think I could speak on behalf of those within the NCC Executive when I say we wouldn’t be involved behind the scenes within the administration of a club like Northbridge if it wasn’t for him.

Whilst his absence is temporary, Mitch will always be a part of the fabric that makes this club great. The door will always be open for a return, and we would hope that we can see him charging back in, steam coming out the ears, with the ball set ready for the famous ‘sticky bomb’ delivery. One of my fondest memories playing for Northbridge is the day that Mitch and I (Tornado and Cyclone as we liked to say) put on 39 runs for the 10th wicket against The Roys at Northbridge Oval in 2008 trying to fight off outright defeat. Our plan was simple, we were taking it 5 runs at a time. We got confident enough for Mitch to play a pull shot for 4 with his eyes closed. A day I wont forget (For the non-believers, see the scorecard

Thank you Mitch for all you have done for this club, for me and for all the Northbridge cricketers over the years. We hope to see you back soon!

Regards,

Mitch Nicholls
a/ NCC President
